Voice
Deliver clear, consistent experiences to HUB24 Group users by following guidelines for the voice and tone of text-based user interface elements.
Why our words matter
User experience is built upon the elements of our design system, linked with content. Every piece of content should be carefully-considered, reflect our values and enable our users, it should offer a recognisable voice through consistency and some guiding principals.
Writing tips
Easy to understand
Aim for clarity and simplicity in everything we write to our interfaces. Abandon all jargon and technical terms, our users may not understand them. Simplify terms to make it easy for the user to understand is what is needed.
Consistent language
Consistency is important across our applications. For example, using words like Remove and Delete used interchangeably can make the user hesitate. We will through UX guidelines set clear examples of core actions.
Avoid using passive voice
Write in active voice - it is direct and clear. When talking to our users, be upfront and precise. We don’t want to waste time with unnecessary words.
Use positive language
Write in a positive tone, guiding users. Through being direct, we do not need to use please in our interfaces. Instead of saying “Please don’t do X,” say “Do Y instead.” This approach is more empowering and can help users feel like they are in control.
